This listing is for 2 ounces of beautiful dyed kid mohair locks from one of our angora goats. This mohair is long, lustrous, soft, and great for a variety of crafts! Locks average 4 inches in length and were hand dyed in gorgeous shades of deep purples, black, and gray with a pop of yellow for February's color of the month, Amethyst!

Why a “color of the month?” As you may know, I prefer the beauty of natural colors. But, as Albert reminds us in “The Birdcage,” one does want a hint of color. ;)

These locks were dyed with food grade and heavy-metal-free dyes so that your fiber is not only safe, but is undamaged by harsh chemicals -- no phosphates, copper, or metallic mordants. Once dyed, the fiber is washed several times in hot water with all natural soap and air dried. The resulting locks are non-toxic and colorfast in vibrant shades of amethyst, gold, and shadow! Due to the way that locks absorb dye, you will find a variety of shades when you open up these locks: lavender, magenta, smoke, and some small areas of white.

This fleece has been picked through by hand to try to remove foreign matter and debris picked up in the field. It is stored in a smoke- and pet-free environment. It is ready for you to pick, card, spin, felt or use for any of your crafting needs -- this fiber would be PERFECT for corespun or tailspun yarn, combed out for doll hair reroots, wigs, funky hair, and more!! These locks also make great basket filler for newborn and infant photo props! You can leave locks intact or tease them for a more filling, airy effect.

Happy spinning!

* Please keep in mind that my animals are pasture raised and are not covered. I do heavily skirt my fleeces to remove second cuts, debris, and soiled fiber. However, some minor amounts of small VM may make it through.
